Education must develop rational approach in students: CM

Kushalnagar: Education is not merely attaining degrees.  The need of the hour is education that helps students develop a scientific and rational approach and lead a responsible life, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

He was speaking after inaugurating the  Science Complex of the Post Graduate Study centre of Mangalore University at Chikka Aluvara village in Torenur Gram Panchayat limits on January 7, Tuesday. The  hostels and residential quarters were also inaugurated by the CM on the occasion.

Continuing, the CM stressed the need to put an end to superstitious beliefs in the society and said  the  educated people should strive in building a society free from superstition.

He also  assured additional grants for the post-graduate study centre of the University and suggested setting up of such a centre in Udupi district too.

RV Deshpande, State Minister for Higher Education, Home Minister KJ George, Kannada and Culture Minister Umashree, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, GP Chief Geetha Chandrashekhar, Prof. UP Yadapadittaya, Registrar of Mangalore University and others were present.
