Duo arrested for raping circus girl

Mysore:  Piriyapattana police have arrested two persons who were absconding after raping a young woman who worked in a circus company.

Giving details of the case on December 18, Wednesday, SP Abhinav Khare said  two women of Assam origin who worked in the Mini Janatha Circus at Kushalnagar had on November 25 night at around 11 pm were heading towards the  Mysore Railway station from Kushalnagar in an autorickshaw  when the auto driver and another person who under the influence of alcohol, took them  towards the Ravandur Road in VG Koppalu village instead of the railway station. If one of the young women managed to escape, the other woman was raped by the duo.

The  police complaint was however lodged several days later on December 14. A special police team was also formed under the leadership of Piriyapattana Circle Inspector Kumar.

Based on the information of the two women, the police began to search for an black colour autorickshaw (KA 12 A 7233) with film actor Darshan poster in the rear. The auto was traced at Kushalnagar and the accused Shanker (22) and Puttaswami (24) were arrested.  Of the two Shanker had a mutton stall at Shankerkoppa village, while Puttaswami worked in a Mysore hotel.

The two have been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
