Mysore : Dalita Sangharsha Samithi activists staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on March 13, Thursday condemning the arrest of two Dalit leaders who had approached the Mysore Assistant Commissioner to hold talks with the DC, after fixing false cases against them.

The agitators alleged that even the Deputy Commissioner Vishal has  bowed to political pressure and demanded that the government released the arrested Dalit leaders after withdrawing cases against them.

It has been learnt that the DSS leaders namely KC Rajakanth and  others had approached the  Assistant Commissioner Shanthala  to highlight the travails of  Satyappa and Muniswamy of Nugithahalli  in Chikkaballapura village who had lost their two acres of Darkhastu land sanctioned by the government  as  the AC ordered that the land be returned to the government as it was sold  contrary to rules. Rajaratnam who had purchased the land  had moved the court in this regard following which the court had directed the AC to reconsider  the order. But the two farmers were worried on  coming to know that documents may be manipulated to get adverse ruling for them. They had then approached the DSS whose leaders  in turn tried to meet the AC when they were arrested.

Several Dalit leaders including J Bheemaraj, Mahadevayya, Nagaraju, Mahesh Somanna and others participated in the protest.
