Mysuru: Officials who had gone on North India tour by flight, without seeking permission from the senior officials have managed to save themselves from getting suspended, thanks to the drought.
The incident occurred in Nanjangud taluk panchayth which is the constituency of Revenue Minister. It is said that Taluk Panchayat Chief Officer Dr Krishnaraj led 10 gram panchayath development officers from Varuna constituency and 8 gram panchayath development officers of Nanjangud constituency for a North India tour on April 6, despite the region reeling under drinking water crisis. They also did not seek permission from the higher officials.
When the Zilla Panchayat CEO sought a report, no PDO could provide any report. Hence he ordered for a probe from retired judge against Nanjangud Taluk chief officer Dr Krishnaraj and other officials.
However, due to the drought, the higher ups have decided not to suspend the erring officials but only penalise them with deduction in increment.
