Mysuru: Chamundeshwari Assembly segment gave political rebirth to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. This favour that Chamundeshwari constituency did should have been reciprocated by the CM in form of some special development packages for the constituency, Unfortunately, this constituency is reeling under such acute drought that the people living here have been pouncing on water kept aside to quench thirst of the cattle and livestock.
Just about 25 kms from HD Kote is S Kallahalli village, which has gone dry like never before. Even though the village has been facing acute drinking water problem over the last four years, the situation has only gone from bad to worse this summer.

There are about three spots were water is collected in the village to feed water to cattle. However, the drought this year has compelled the people to drink the same water leaving the cattle in lurch.

There are over 10 new borewells drilled in the village, but even after drilling 350 ft deep, the locals could not get water. The existing seven borewells have dried up.

The condition in this village is so desperate that women are often seen fighting to get one pot filled with water at the hand pumps.

With the CM declaring that he will contest from the same constituency for the upcoming polls too, one may have to wait and watch whether he would act right away to bring people out of this desperate situation or turn blind eye.
