Dr Kiran Kulkarni, first doctor from Karnataka to be appointed chairman of Anti Doping committee

Mysuru: Asian Football Confederation appointed Dr Kiran Kulkarni as the chairman of Medical and Anti-Doping Committee for the forth coming AFC U-19 finals to be held in Manama, Bahrain from October 11 to 29. He is the only Indian doctor to be in this AFC medical panel team.

For the past 16 years, Dr Kiran Kulkarni, who did his medicine from Mysore Medical College Research and Institute served in various capacities. Since 2013, for Indian Premier League (cricket) matches and many Ranji Trophy and Challenger series matches he also served as medical and doping control officer. He also served as medical and doping officer for Indian hockey women team and Indian men and women gymnastic team. Since 2012, he is also involved with AFU and working in various capacities. This is for the first time, a doctor from Karnataka has got such an responsibility.

“I am really delighted with the responsibility. It is a huge responsibility and I am confident of doing justice to it” added Dr Kiran Kulkarni, Sports Medicine Physician, who is having his own clinic near Laxmi Narayan Temple, Raviwarpeth in Dharwad.
