Dr. Gangubhai Hangal University to give away 3 honourary doctorates during convocation on Mar 7

Mysuru: Karnataka State Dr. Gangubhai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University has decided to honour prominent individuals with Honourary Doctorate degrees, said Vice Chancellor Dr. Sarvamangala Shankar.

During the second university convocation on March 7 Prof. Gowri Kuppusawamy for excellence in Carnatic music (singing), Prof. N Rajam (Violin) and stage artiste Nadoja Enagi Balappa will receive the honours.

Renowned flautist L Subramaniam will deliver the Convocation Address and the function will be presided over by the State Governor Vajubhai Vala.

In all, 47 students will receive degrees this year, where 17 students will receive Gold medals and three others cash awards.

A total of nine students will receive ranks for the first time during convocation scheduled at 11.30 am at Nityotsava Auditirium where Higher Education Minister Basavaraj Rayareddy will be the chief guest, confirmed Vice Chancellor Dr. Sarvamangala Shankar.
