District administration raises local concerns for consideration in the State budget

Mysuru: Ahead of state budget, the Association of Concerned and Informed Citizens of Mysore had a meeting at Institute of Engineers, with the experts in the city on Monday February 16.

The meeting was headed by former MP H Vishwanath, they discussed on various proposals related to public issues and demands. The suggestions received and will be submitted to the Chief Minister through the Mayor for consideration in the upcoming budget for the year of 2015-16.

The state budget is scheduled to be presented on March 14.

They listed: approval of Metro train project between Mysuru and Bangalore, announcement of  Mysuru city as heritage city in the Gazette to get central funds, reservation of  land for the outer ring road to reduce traffic congestion, the need for a separate water board to ensure permanent water supply in the city,  an effort to protect lakes in the city to secure water resource,appropriate steps to avoid land grab accusations, an advanced waste management system in  four directions in the city  which would facilitate waste transportation and better waste management, ensure better road transportation facilities to tourist places such as Chamundi Hill, Nanjangud, KRS etc.

The proposals also demanded the creation of a garden in the surroundings of the Chamundi Hill like Ooty garden, so that people can enjoy nature, which also helps to avoid land grabbing by private authorities.

Besides, establishing a food court with traditional taste to attract tourists, making better parking facilities in the crowded area in the city especially near Town Hall, need of another hospital like KRS Hospital to accommodate the large numbers of people in the district, were also included.

They also suggested starting an enforcement Enforcement Cell to ensure quality in all products, a separate water service for Mysuru Industrial Area, The centres related to department of Art and Culture should be opened in Kalamandir to have an effective use of the stage, reservation for Kannadigas in ITBT sectors, 50 percent reservations for localities in  all the engineering colleges, were the other demands.

Mayor R Lingappa also agreed with most of the proposals saying that all the recommendations are Mysuru friendly.

Experts from Regional wing of Institute of Engineers India were present. Association of Concerned and Informed Citizens of Mysore convenor Lakshman presented detailed proposals.
