Dedicated, committed teachers a boon to society: Prof. Sheikh Ali

Mysore : The teaching fraternity will get its due honour and respect in the society when teachers discharge their duties with dedication and commitment, said Prof. B Sheikh Ali, former vice chancellor of Mangalore and Goa Universities.

He was speaking at a felicitation and farewell function organised for Prof. Sugeetha  Suvarna on  behalf of the Department of History of Manasagangotri on Friday May 30.

Expressing his appreciation for Mysore University, Prof. Ali said it is one of the best universities of Karnataka. He compared life to a game of chess and the University to a chess board. The rules of nature are like the rules of the game, he added.

Earlier, inaugurating the function, Prof. Sayyed Azam, former professor of History said teachers are the assets of the society. He also regretted the declining number of  teachers as more and more teachers are retiring from service.

Prof. Sugeetha Suvarna who responded to the felicitation conferred on her, said she began her student life in the institution and  was happy to serve the institute all these years  and now retire from service. She also described her teaching profession as very fulfilling.

Prof. Ashwathanarayana, Head of the Department of History, Prof. R Rajanna other staff and students of History Department were present.
