Mysore: In an unfortunate incident, a cow which was resting under a tree died after a huge branch of a tree crashed on it yesterday evening in city.

It is learnt that the cow belonged to a resident of Hosabandikeri.
It is reported that the owner of the cow after milking the cow let it off outside and the cow which came near the old Harihara Hotel in Agrahara on Sayyaji Rao Road was taking rest under a tree in front of Basava Bhavan, when the huge branch of a tree came crashing down on its neck.
Though passersby tried to remove the branch, the cow which struggled for about 20 minutes breathed its last.
Corporator B.V. Manjunath and MCC Horticulture Officer Manikanta, who rushed to the spot on receiving information, got the branch removed.
Corporator B.V. Manjunath said that in a period of one year, six tress have fallen in Ward 1 which had resulted in the death of two persons, a cow and damages to many houses.
He further said that though applications were given to the Forest Department to cut old trees, nothing has been done till date.
He has urged the authorities to prune old and dangerous branches of trees to avoid such mishaps in future.
