Hassan: Veteran journalist and Kannada activist Patil Puttappa stressing the need to identify a second capital for Karnataka, said that Davangere would be an ideal choice.

He was addressing students of the Govt first grade college for women at an interactive session organised by the Kannada Sahitya parishat recently.

People of Bidar have to travel more than 650 km to reach Bangalore, the present capital. Even the committee under the chairmanship of Chiranjiv Singh, IAS had recommended Davangere be developed as a second capital.

While taking a dig at ministers who take up foreign tours, he asked all the ministers to travel across all parts of Karnataka instead of taking foreign trips.
