Mysore : A two-day mourning is being observed in Karnataka on December 11, Wednesday and December 12, Thursday as a mark of respect to the scion of the Mysore royal family Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar( 60) who passed away on Tuesday following a cardiac arrest.




All schools, colleges and government offices are shut today in honour of the departed leader. The state government has made all arrangements for a state funeral for Wadiyar at Manuvana (the royal graveyard) on Wednesday. Wadiyar’s mortal remains were earlier kept for public to pay homage at the Mysore Palace Kalyana Mantapa. A number of dignitaries including ministers, politicians, former cricketers, members of the KSCA paid their respects to the departed leader.
Wadiyar, a four-time MP was the only son of Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar, the last Maharaja of Mysore. He was married to Pramoda Devi, who belongs to the Ursu family of the erstwhile princely state of Mysore.
