Mescom officials confirm illegality by Manipal Dental College

Mangalore: The Mescom Vgilance SP Harishchandra, along with other officials held a press meet on December 10, Tuesday informing about the raid on the Manipal College of Dental Sciences and Hospital for illegally using electricity from KMC Hospital for the past few years.

Addressing the media men, the Mescom Vigilance SP Harishchandra said that the college has been penalized and the fine is imposed on the basis of contract demand and taking cognizance of  several other aspects.

Explaining the scenario he said, “The College started in the year 2006 and the school started in the year 2010. The violations have taken place since beginning. KMC had applied for additional internal load for the hospital in the year 2000, 2006 and 2010, and likewise permission was granted, but additional electricity was misused by them as well.”

He said based on a complaint by social worker P S Haneef Saheb, we raided the college and confirmed that the college had been using electricity illegally for which they have been penalized approximately Rs 3.4 crores.They can submit a one-time petition on  challenging the same,” he added.
