Mysore: The Mysore South Police, on Saturday August 23, has taken into custody a man for allegedly stealing computers and other expensive articles from government schools and offices over a period of one year.
The accused has been identified as Nagesh, 34, from Habbanakuppe village in Hunsur taluk, who for the past one year would meticulously steal computers.
Nagesh was arrested by Mandya Rural Police on July 28, as the case developed the police learnt that Nagesh was involved in many computer theft cases in the district, he was brought to city on August 19 and interrogated by South Police.
He was later produced before the court on August 23, after which the police has taken him into custody.
Nagesh is said to be a very clever, multi-faceted person having tried his hands on rolling shutter workshop, computer servicing and was once owning a browsing centre in Metagalli here.
Nagesh wanted to make some quick bucks and ventured into stealing computers. He reportedly used only an iron rod and a huge bag for the theft and a motorbike to shift the computers.
According to the police, Nagesh has stolen 44 monitors, 17 CPUs and 4 keyboards in 14 theft cases in the district, all worth about Rs. 3.1 lakh, which has been recovered by the Police.
He was reportedly taking the assistance of one Wazim of Mandi Mohalla to sell the stolen computers, who is absconding.
Mysore South Circle Inspector Gopalakrishna, SI Poonacha and staff were involved in cracking the case.
