Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah took strong exceptions to state BJP chief B S Yeddyurappa’s personal attacks against him and accused the latter of having no control over his tongue.

Reacting strongly against BSY’s personal attacks against him while interacting with the media ,CM Siddaramaiah said BJP lacked political culture and had resorted to tongue lashing at the last minute over fear of losing the by-elections.

The battle on the political arena should be issue-based and not personal, said Siddaramaiah and exuded confidence in the victory of Congress candidates by huge margins in the ensuing by-polls in Nanjanagud and Gundlupet constituencies.

It may be recalled that state BJP chief BSY had termed Siddaramaiah as the most unfit CM the state ever had, using singular terms, during his election campaign in Gundlupet constituency. When media men sought his reactions on the language used, CM said, even he is well-versed in using foul language and knows worse terms than BSY but will not stoop down to that level considering the political ideology he upholds.

BJP is trying all possible means to win over the confidence of the electorate by using caste, language, religion and even the name of God but the development mode of Congress will prevail over opposition’s tactics, CM said.

On BSY distributing Rs 1 Lakh to the family of the deceased farmer in Gundlupet constituency, CM hit back by asking, “How much money did BSY donate when he was the state chief minister to the dying farmers in the state? BSY has the dubious distinction of issuing shoot at sight orders against agitating farmers, CM reminded.

He refused to comment on his former cabinet colleague and BJP candidate Srinivas Prasad.

By making a statement over fighting elections on issues, CM Siddaramaiah appears to have scored a point but the real truth will emerge once the ballot boxes are opened on the counting day, April 13.
