Mysore :Chief Minister Siddharamaiah yesterday offered the traditional Bagina to River Cauvery at KRS reservoir in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya District. In the background was the non-stop chanting of vedic hymns and roaring sound of water gushing through the automatic sluices, which reached its optimum level of 124.80 ft on Tuesday night.
The Chief minister reached the dam site at around 3.45 PM around 2 hours behind schedule. He was accompanied by the Water Resources Minister M.B. Patil, Housing Minister Ambarish, PWD Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa and others,.
The District Administration and offered a warm welcome with a Poornakumba.
The Bagina offering ceremony was conducted by a group of eight priests led by Prof. Bhanu Prakash Sharma of Srirangapatna during which Siddharamaiah garlanded and offered puja to the Statue of Cauvery at the dam site.
