Mysuru: The District Administration in its bid to reclaim encroached government land, demolished five illegally built houses on government land at Sadanahalli near Sunanda Industries on KRS Road on Sunday December 14, early in the morning.
The demolition drive was led by Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha and Tahsildar A. Naveen Joseph. The DC and the Tahsildar, armed with two JCBs and gangmen, who came to the spot at 5.30 am, brought down five houses which were built illegally. The demolition lasted till 6.15 am.
It is reported that about five days ago, the District Administration, which noticed five houses being constructed at Sadanahalli in Survey No. 127 (Revenue Land) belonging to the government, had instructed the Revenue Inspector to follow it up.
Following the instruction, the Revenue Inspector who visited the spot, warned the builders, who were constructing houses with the help of local influential persons not to do so as the land belonged to the government.
As the builders did not heed to the warning of the Revenue Inspector, the District Administration demolished the houses and reclaimed the land.
Tahsildar A. Naveen Joseph, said that these type of operations would continue in future and warned the public who have encroached government property of stringent action against them besides demolishing the illegally constructed structures and evicting them. Metagalli Police, numbering about 50, led by Inspector Shekar, provided security during the demolition.
Village Accountants, Revenue Inspectors and all Revenue Department officials were present.
