Maddoor: The peasants dependent on dairy farming are distressed owing to foot and mouth disease infected by their cattle across the taluk.
Several cows died owing to the disease that has put the peasants who were dependent on their livelihood. The disease is spreading other villages, Hagalahalli and Gurudevarahalli in Bharatinagar, near here which has resulted in mass death of livestock.
The cows owned by Sunita, residing in V V Nagar, Jayashankar, residing in Megaladoddi street, Sumitra, Kempanna, Praveen, Kullappa, Thyagaraju and Rangaswamy, residing at Chamanahalli were infected with the disease, but perished despite the state-run veterinary doctors treated them.
Over 30 cows perished owing to the disease in Hosakere, Kottanahalli, Gurudevarahalli, Borapura, Nagarakere, Channasandra, Somanahalli, Niluvagilu, Gejjalagere, Besagarahalli, Honnalagere, Kadaloor, Nidagatta, Aloor, Atagoor, Kestoor, Hootagere, Mallanakuppe, Kudaragundi, Hemmanahalli, including Maddoor and Shivapura.
Over 400 cows are suffering owing to the disease, while the state administration is expected to respond the grievances of dairy farmers.
