Burglars strike on occasion of Akshaya Thrithiya, loot lecturer’s house

Mysuru: Burglars broke into the locked house of a lecturer in Kanakadas Nagar of Gattahalli and decamped with jewelry worth Rs 20 lakh and 3 kg of silver.

A L Umesh, a lecturer of the Maharaja College along with his family had left for Kerala on a four day trip locking up the house and returned on Monday morning to find the house ransacked.

Umesh said that the burglars had broken the door to enter the house and escaped with 500 gm of gold, 3 kg of sliver and Rs 1.75 lakh cash.

A complaint has been registered in the Kuvempunagara police station. The police rushed to the spot with canine squad and fingerprint experts. The investigation is on.
