Bantwal: An accidental wildfire destroyed coconut, arecanut and other plantations spread across 8 acres near Kamaje in Bimuda village here on Monday.

The incident occurred at a land belonging to late Pillai. However, no casualties have been reported.

Immediately after the mishap occurred, fire personnel rushed to the spot. They had to bring water twice to completely bring the raging fire under control. Water was brought twice again on a vehicle which supplies water to Bantwal town muncipality.

Local youth too joined the operation.
