Mysuru: Ahead of Lok Sabha polls, the state BJP Chief B S Yeddyurappa on August 5 gave a target of 23 seats from Karnataka in the Lok Sabha while he wants minimum 60 local bodies to be in the saffron party’s kitty. This comes days after the poll calendar was issued for the urban local bodies in the state.
Addressing the party workers after inaugurating the executive meeting of BJP in a private hotel, he said “In the forthcoming Lok Sabha, the local body including corporation elections we should work unitedly and get more than 23 parliament seats. Victory in more than 60 local bodies and a thumping win in the Mysuru City Corporation election must be ensured and with nobody’s support, should grab the mayor and deputy mayor posts. During the last parliamentary election this year, we won 17 seats due to good governance by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who generously allocated money including to Mysuru constituency. We should win more than 23 seats. For these forthcoming elections, I will tour about 15 districts in the state from August 9.”
Lot of money for Mysuru constituency?
Yeddyurappa also mentioned that Modi had allocated a good share of money for Mysuru which is represented by Pratap Simha. “Going by the sanction of money and projects to Mysuru, I was surprised and even jovially discussed with my friends whether we have any money printing machines at the Centre. Such grants are not for Mysuru but also most of the constituencies across the country. For Mysuru alone he has granted crores of rupees which includes sanctioning of Rs 7000 Crore for the ten-lane road between Mysuru and Bengaluru, Rs 700 Crore sanction for Mysuru airport expansion and Rs 780 Crore for setting up Satellite Terminal Station at Naganahalli,” BSY said.
‘Bangladeshi immigrants in Mysuru’
In Bengaluru and Mysuru also, many people have come from Bangladesh: “It’s not only in Assam that we have come across 41 lakh people belonging to Bangladesh but we are seeing them in Karnataka as well, especially in Bengaluru and Mysuru. The government should also take steps to identify such people”, said Yeddyurappa. Yeddyurappa also came down heavily on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her support to 41 lakh Bangladeshi people who are not found in the publication of draft National Register of Citizens in Assam. “It is really unfortunate that former prime minister and Janata Dal (S) Supremo H D Devegowda is also supporting Mamata Banerjee in this regard”, added Yeddyurappa.
Yeddyurappa also mentioned that during the campaign for the corporation and local body elections, he would expose the “mismanagement” by the present coalition government. “In the last three months, the present government in the state has failed to take up any developmental works. Without bringing to the notice and permission of the Reserve Bank of India, they have waived off only Rs 2 Lakh worth of farmers’ loans taken from nationalised banks but are lying that they have cleared Rs 49,000 Crore. Without getting any permission from RBI how can they waive off loans from nationalised banks? They are just misleading the people. The farmers are put into a lot of hardship as they are not able to get any fresh loans from the banks.”
