Boon for teachers: CM inaugurates the renovated Shishakara Sadana

Mysuru: Speaking  after inaugurating the renovated Shikshakara Sadana and laying  the foundation stone for ‘Annapoorna Bhavan’ at the Sadhana building located next to Mysuru Milk Dairy on Bannur Road, Siddartha Layout in the city this morning, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced,  “Government is ready to build convention hall like the Police Bhavana for the welfare of teachers. As soon as we get the estimation, government will provide the funds.”

Pointing out that the foundation stone for the building was laid in 1998 and now he is inaugurating only the renovated structure, Siddaramaiah complimented the legislators who contributed under the Legislators Fund.

The CM, referring to certain demands made by H.B. Basavaraj, District President of Karnataka State Primary School Teachers’ Association, said that the renovated structure will cater to the needs of 8,500 teachers working in the district.

“The elected representatives have already sanctioned funds for the construction of the building. Government is all set ready to help teachers fraternity. The convention hall can be built with the co-ordination of teachers and government. The teachers family will get the convention hall at discounted rates and to others will be given at market price which will help the teachers association.”

Reiterating that the biggest contribution that can be made by the teachers to the society is by molding the students to become better citizens, Siddharamaiah asked the teachers to be more professional in accomplishing their tasks and responsibilities.

“It is the teachers who mould the future citizens of the country and as such the teachers have a distinct responsibility of imparting quality education to students,”  he opined

Narasimharaja MLA Tanveer Sait, who presided, regretted that despite all the government’s efforts, the academic progress of children studying in government schools was not on expected lines.

Stressing the need for developing government schools and imparting quality education to children, the MLA called for setting up a State-level Council on education comprising experts, in order to make government schools more competent and effectively face the challenges of modern day education.

He alleged that “2.18 acres of land which has been encroached by Air Force. Government needs to intervene to get the lands back”, he stressed.  He also said,  “In order to provide proper facility to government school children, a committee at the  zonal or state level needs to be formed to upgrade the schools.

Every school needs a library and basic features for the comprehensive growth of a child. Government joining hands with private firms we can make this happen”, he reiterated. He also lamented the fact that there are no kannada teachers in a few Urdu schools.
