Mysuru: A bomb scare on the Mysuru bound Shatabdi express turned out to be a hoax following a thorough search conducted by GRP, local police and Railway Protection Force personnel at Mysuru Railway station here on Saturday.
The anonymous caller called Government Railway Police in Bengaluru and threatened that a bomb has been planted in Shatabdi express and at any time it may explode. Soon after receiving the message, the local police along with railway police and Railway Protection Force scanned entire train but came to know that it was a hoax call.
Later again after the train came to Mysuru at 1.10pm, the local police, GRP and RPF conducted security check after evacuating all passengers at the railway station. Bomb squads and dog squads were pressed into service at the Mysuru railway station for checks. After thorough checking police confirmed that there were no explosion on the train. All the nine coaches including two generator coaches were thoroughly checked and found to be clean of any explosives or suspicious objects. The clearance for the onward journey for the train was given subsequently. Railway officials confirmed that there was no presence of explosives in any of the coaches and the train departed to Bengaluru on time at 2.15pm.
Joshi, Assistant Commandant, Railway Protection Force, Mysuru Division, South Western Railway said, “Along with local police and GRP within few minutes we scanned entire Shatabdi coaches. Few minutes before the train departed from Mysuru we conducted second scan; later we came to know that it was hoax call.”
