Auditor to monitor each Dasara sub-committee: DC Randeep

Mysuru: To maintain transparency in 17 different dasara sub committees, each committee will be monitored by an auditor, said Deputy Commissioner D Randeep.
Addressing mediapersons at his office here on Sunday he said, “Though we had requested for Rs 14.25 crore for this year’s dasara celebration, Government has approved Rs 11 crore. Last year’s carry over fund of Rs 1.5 crore will be utilized if need arises. Already, the government has released Rs 6.80 crore and the rest will be released in a phased manner. It will be a usual traditional Dasara this year without scaling down its grandeur, but steps would be taken to curtail unnecessary expenditure.

He also mentioned that all arrangements are being made to celebrate the festival in its traditional grandeur. The eleven day dasara will begin on October 1 and will conclude after Jumboo Savari and Torch light parade on October 11. Indian badminton legend Ashwini Ponnappa will inaugurate the state level dasara sports which will begin at Chamundi Vihar Stadium on October 1 and conclude on October 4. More than 4,500 participants from across the state are expected to take part in various events.

T Venkatesh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, ZP CEO Shivashankar, MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha, SP Ravi D. Channannavar, Director, Department of Kannada and Culture Dayanand, Asst. Commissioner C.L. Anand, were also present.
