Mysuru: Some of them are sick. Some of their children are hospitalized. And some have death in the family. Yet, these women are protesting in front of the District Commissioner’s office from the past four days.
The anganwadi workers are protesting against the privatization of the ICDS system in the state. Despite the continued protest of these women, there has been little response from the state government.

Jayanthi, a protester a said, “We’re protesting so we can get some basic facilities. We are women who have families. My child has been sick from the past four days and I have been here protesting.”
The women have been facing numerous health issues, with stomach pains, headaches, diarrhoea and even fainting spells.
Sunanda, another protester says, “My father in law passed away but I am here protesting.”
Pramila has also lost her father and her child has been admitted to the hospital. And she has been in front of the DC office from the past three days.
The women have a rotation system, every day there are close to 300 people who spend the night at the protest.
There are police men, women police squads along with ambulances waiting in case of dire emergencies.
Sanjeevini another protester says, “From the past six months we haven’t received funds to give the children eggs. We have no facilities, that is why we are relentlessly protesting. All of are facing so many other problems but we have all made it a point to let our voice be heard.”
