Mysore: The wheat that was supplied to pregnant women through Anganawady by the food and civil supplies departments here are found to be infested with worms.


The general public is criticizing the distribution of wheat infested with worms, soon after the launch of Anna Bhagya programme. The state governments were distributing nutritious foods including wheat to pregnant and post-pregnant women who hail from poor families since the past many years. Meanwhile, the food and civil supplies department officials have not bothered to inspect the stocks before supplying it to the distribution centers, with least concern on the health of the poor women.
The wheat infested with worms was found in the stores of Anganawady located in T K Layout, here, which is unfit for human consumption are being distributed to the beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries are very much concerned of stale food that is being distributed by the state administration that has aimed to provide nutritious food to poor pregnant and post-pregnant women.They urge the district administration to check the quality of grains that are distributed to these women before actually delivering them.
