Mysuru: A youth tried to commit suicide by consuming poison in front of a Police Station in Talakadu here on Thursday.

The youth, who is being treated at city’s K.R. Hospital after the aborted suicide attempt has been identified as Parashuram, son of Krishnappa, a resident of Davanagere Colony in T. Narasipur.

Citing reasons for Parashuram to take the extreme step, his relatives have alleged that he had been falsely fitted in a temple burglary case along with two others by Talakad SI Anand and Head Constable Manchagaiah, who had also tortured him.

It may be recalled that Parashuram, was among three persons who had been arrested by Talkad Police and named as one of the accused in cases relating to thefts at Murudeshwara Temple in T. Narasipur Police limits.

It is said that Talkad Police, who approached Parashuram in the guise of purchasing an Indica car on Oct. 20, had forced him to get out of the car and took him to Somanathapura Police Station, tortured him there and later took him to Talkad Police Station.

Fearing more torture, Parashuram had managed to escape from the Police Station and went underground for the past three months, it is said.

Meanwhile, Parashuram’s father Krishnappa has urged SP Abhinav Khare to initiate action against Anand and Manchagaiah for falsely implicating his son in the case leading to his attempt to commit suicide.
