Udupi: Thingale Vikramarjuna Hegde, BJP district president demanded an unbiased inquiry into the fire incident at the Jamiya commercial complex owned by Jamiya Masjid at Gangolli on last Friday midnight. 10 shops were gutted in the fire and more than Rs.1 crore worth goods were damaged in the incident.

While speaking to the media, Tingale alleged that the attitude of police is paving the way for communal violence. Recently police have arrested two men belonging to Hindu organisations and registered false cases against 13 men.
He added that though the fire incident was accidental, Oscar Fernandez Rajya Sabha MP and Vinay Kumar Sorake, district in charge visited the and tried their maximum to shape it as communal issue.
Irresponsibility of police has created panic in the region, public is disappointed with the attitude of police.
For the first time Muslim women came out and protested against the police department. Another five thousand people staged protest near the national highway in Trasi.
Gopal Poojary, Congress district president is least bothered about these incidents. Thingale demanded the release of all arrested people.
