‘A positive communication can remove anxiety in patients’

Mysuru: “The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences has kept aside Rs. 10 crore for research in Ayurveda, the amount has increased from Rs. 2.5 crores,” said the Vice chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi university of health sciences Dr K S Ravindrananth.

Dr. Ravindranath speaking in the inaugural Programme of graduation day ‘Vasanta Yaana’ Vishikaanupraveshaniyam-2015 organised by government Ayurvedic medical college and hospital here on Thursday. He went on to say that to make sure students get their results faster, a digital evaluation system is to be installed in the university.

“It doesn’t matter you practice homeopathy, naturopathy or allopathy a doctor should have a sympathy towards his/ her patients,” said Vice chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi university of health sciences Dr K S Ravindrananth.

Inaugurating the programme he said, “The journey of real life starts for the graduates now. It is necessary for the doctors to maintain a good repo with the patients. The behaviour and communication with patients also plays vital role in addressing the patient’s problems. Many time I have come across some of the people who have come to doctor just to reassure that they are fine. A positive communication can remove the anxiety in the patients.”

“There are 250 Ayurvedic medical colleges in country and 56 in Karnataka. State government has also opened 600 dispensaries in government hospitals. I ask students to go and work in such places for the welfare of people. The research in Ayurveda has deteriorated and the students should excel in research which will help Ayurveda to reach large group,” he said.

On the occasion 47 students were facilitated with graduation. Principal of naturopathy and yoga institute Shantharam, principal of government Ayurvedic medical college Dr Satyanarayana Bhat and many others were present.
