Mysore: The city witnessed several protests by various organisations in support of different causes on Monday July 14.



Farmers led by the Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene staged a protest demanding release of waters into the Kabini and Varuna canals. They also urged the government not to release water from the reservoir to Tamil Nadu in the better interests of local farmers.
Over 200 farmers including Raitha Sangha leaders Badagalapura Nagendra, Hosakote Basavaraju, Ashwath Narayana, Hosur Kumar and others participated in the protest.
Protest for better road: The Srigandha Yuvakara Sangha of Paduvaralli also organised a protest urging the authorities to asphalt the Valmiki Road and Adi Pampa Roads in the city at the earliest.
The protestors said the bad state of the road has hit hard the public and pointed out that the roads were not asphalted even months after the completion of the pipeline works.
Sangha President Paduvaralli M Ramakrishna Pai and others were part of the protest.
ABVP stages protest: The students of the Maharaja PU College led by the ABVP protested in front of the DC office condemning the decision of the Goa government to demolish the houses of over 70 Kannadigas who have been residing on the shorelines of Goa.
They alleged that the Goa Government was harassing Kannadigas who have migrated to the state. They further demanded rehabilitation of the affected families.
Mahipal, city unit Organising Secretary, Student leaders G Shantha, Chethan, Chandan Kumar, Vijay, Sridhar, Ravikumar, Abhishek and others took part in the protest.
