Mysore: The cops attached to Krishnaraja, Metagalli and Mandi Police Stations have arrested four vehicle lifters and recovered nine Bolero SUVs and 22 two wheelers worth about Rs.60 lakh from them on Friday morning September 12.

Addressing the press, City Police Commissioner Dr MA Saleem said that those arrested in cases of thefts of Boleros have been identified as Ibrahim alias Appa Bhai and Anwar Ali, residents of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, who were specialists in lifting Boleros and selling them in Kerala where Bolero engines are used in fishing boats.

Mandi Police, who were probing the theft of a Bolero (KA-09 Z-4459) belonging to a dentist Tarakaram, resident of Doctor’s Colony in VV Puram Police limits on July 17, 2014 came across the duo driving a Bolero and on interrogations, the two revealed that they had all together lifted nine Boleros from different parts of the State and sold them in Kerala by giving photo copies of the documents at throw away prices.

Mandi Police, who reached Kerala, seized the other stolen Boleros and launched a hunt for the third accused.

With reference to the two-wheelers KR Police, who were on routine beat, found a Honda Activa driven by two persons with a gas cylinder. As the riders noticed the Police, one of the two jumped off the vehicle and ran away following which they questioned Hasan alias Hussain Sharif alias Mymath Bin Jaffar, resident of Neelasandra in Bangalore, who confessed to have lifted bikes after which some bikes were recovered from him.

Investigation also revealed that Hussain, had force-entered a house of 82-year-old Ramegowda in Vidyaranyapuram, tied his hands and legs, assaulted him with an iron rod and made away with Rs. 500 in cash and 150 gram gold ornaments.

Metagalli Police, who came across one Chandra, son of Ramanna, a resident of Bannur, trying to sell a stolen Hero Honda bike, arrested him and recovered nine bikes from him. Chandra’s interrogation revealed that he had taken to lifting bikes to make good for the losses that he had suffered on cricket betting and continued to commit such crimes as his first two crimes went unnoticed.

With an initiative of conducting a drive against vehicle lifters Dr. Saleem has urged those who have lost their vehicles to pursue their complaints instead of just keeping aloof after lodging a complaint and ensure that their grievances were addressed.

City Police Commissioner, Dr MA Saleem supervised DCPs AN Rajanna and MM Mahadevaiah, Inspectors and staff of all the concerned Police Stations in the nabbing and seizing operations.
