80th Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahitya Sammelana gets off to colourful start

Madekeri: The 80th Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahitya Sammelana organized at Field Marshal Cariappa College grounds, was inaugurated  on Tuesday January 7 by Chief  Minister Siddaramaiah.

In his inaugural address, Siddaramaiah said that  Kannada is our culture and we must cherish the language. Stating that he sends back files that are in English as his government is committed to Kannada as the official language, the Chief Minister said it was his personal opinion that education should be in Kannada medium.

With reference to the recent issues pertaining to the demand for a  separate Kodava state, the CM said that rather than protesting people can come and discuss the matter to find an appropriate solution.

In his presidential address, eminent writer Na D’Souza said that Aloor Venkataraya, Kadapa Raghavendra, Mudaveedu Krishnaraya had selflessly fought for the  unification of Karnataka and appreciated their sacrifice and dedication towards the culture of the land.
