Kushalnagar: Five persons sustained injuries, four of them critically in a head-on collision between a Maruti Van and a tipper near Anekadu here on December 23, Monday.

The Maruti Van(KA 12 P-3163)  was heading towards Madikeri from Kushalnagar while the lorry was   proceeding from Suntikoppa. The condition of Mallappa of Yaduvanadu village and KM Muttappa who were travelling in the van is said to be critical. Even Sheela, Nagamma have sustained serious injuries, while Bhagya   has escaped with minor injuries.

The critically injured have been shifted to a private hospital in Mysore, while the other two are undergoing treatment at Madikeri District Hospital. The lorry driver is absconding. It is learnt, the lorry is owned by Prakash of Bangalore.

Local police have registered a case and are  on the lookout for the lorry driver.
