Mysuru: In a significant operation, the Railway Protection Force has apprehended three individuals involved in the illegal booking of railway tickets without authorization from the Railway Department. The arrested culprits have been identified as Ganesh Ram Naik (31), hailing from Sri Renuka Cyber Center in Talaguppa, Revannappa (36) from Communication Mobile Shop, and Prashant Hegade (46) representing Arya Cyber center.

With the upcoming festival season on the horizon and the intent to shield passengers from exploitation, the Divisional Railway Protection Force in Mysore initiated a strategic plan to tackle unauthorized railway ticket booking agents operating in Talaguppa. The operation culminated in the arrest of these three accused, who were part of a larger syndicate. The method of operation of these illicit travel agents revolved around creating multiple user IDs linked to different phone numbers, subsequently generating e-tickets illegally. During peak periods, such as festivals, they profited substantially by charging exorbitant commissions from unsuspecting passengers.

Shilpi Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager of Mysore Railway Division, issued a stern warning in a press statement, stating, “Massive raids against unauthorized travel agents targeting railway passengers will persist. Every effort will be made to safeguard passengers from any inconveniences.” Agarwal urged travelers to exercise caution when dealing with travel agents and not succumb to their tempting offers. This operation stands as a testament to the Railway Protection Force’s commitment to ensuring the welfare and security of railway passengers. Passengers are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the authorities to further enhance railway travel safety.”
