Mysuru gears up for grand Dasara, minister’s meeting

Mysuru: Dr. HC Mahadevappa, the Minister in charge of Social Welfare and Mysore District, hosted a meeting at the Palace Board on Tuesday to discuss the formation of sub-committees and outline program development for the upcoming Dasara festival. The Minister passionately advocated for the transformation of Dasara into a true people’s festival, dedicated to showcasing India’s rich art, culture, and heritage.

During the meeting, Dr. Mahadevappa emphasized the need for seamless coordination among all sub-committees to ensure the resounding success of the festival. He acknowledged that millions of tourists, both domestic and international, visit Mysuru to partake in the Dasara festivities, making it a global attraction.

The Minister urged sub-committees to promptly commence their work, with a focus on showcasing India’s heritage, artistic features, constitutional ideals, and historical achievements. He proposed the illumination of key city circles and roads during Dasara, featuring installations of government flagship projects and portraits of eminent personalities in the main circle.

Recognizing and supporting artists on cultural event platforms was also stressed by the Minister. He called for comprehensive programs introducing visitors to the diverse art forms of the nation, including music, drama, dance, and more. Dr. Mahadevappa advocated for a meticulously organized Yuva Dasara program to engage and attract the youth, as well as the promotion of clean and delectable food stalls in the food fair.

Emphasizing the significance of the fruit and flower show, he urged organizers to infuse artistry and creativity into the displays to make them visually appealing to Dasara visitors. To maintain cleanliness during the festival, the Minister urged the city corporation to implement thorough cleaning routines along roadsides and event venues, with dedicated teams operating in both morning and night shifts.

Dr. Mahadevappa announced that a subsequent meeting would delve into the detailed discussions and programs undertaken by the sub-committees. He called upon all officials to perform their duties diligently. The meeting was attended by DC Dr. KV Rajendra, ZP CEO K. M. Gayatri, City Police Commissioner Ramesh Banooth, District Superintendent of Police Seema Latkar, and others.
