Mysuru: The city crime branch (CCB) police finally succeeded in nabbing a notorious criminal having links with banned Muslim organizations in connection with the murder of Raju Kyathemaranahalli, a right wing leader after nearly 5 months.
Prime accused Abid is the arrested.
Raju, a small time right-wing leader was killed by notorious Abid and his associates on March 13, while he was sipping tea at a stall in Udayagiri limits of the city. The police formed four separate squads to nab the accused as the CCTV footages collected at the site of the murder remained unclear.
Reason behind Raju’s murder
Prime accused Abid, was a member of banned organizations PFI and KFD and had links with SDPI too. Abid and his associates were involved in the kidnapping and killing of two wealthy students of Mahajana College two years ago. After committing the double murder, the accused had dumped their bodies in a nearby river.
The police had recovered dangerous weapons from the site of murder in Raju’s presence, who later became the first witness. Prime accused Abid was absconding and two of his associates were lodged at the Parappana Agrahara jail in Bengaluru.
The CCB police showing laxity had filed a missing chargesheet against Abid though he was hiding in one of the by lanes of Udayagiri. Raju being a strong witness had stated Abid as the main accused a month before his murder during the investigation. Enraged by the incident, Abid killed Raju and escaped to Hyderabad.

Police are now investigating from a different angle, the role of banned organization like KFD, PFI and SDPI as they received few vital clues that around 25 people were trained by the banned organizations to carryout killings of right wing leaders. The trained youth were operating in places like Mangaluru Mysuru and Madikeri to execute murders after accepting Supari amount.
The CCB police have arrested three members having criminal background and are on the lookout for others.
