Shivamogga: The City Corporation Mayor Shivakumar S. said that the Central and State Governments have implemented several welfare schemes and the common man should take full advantage of them.

He was speaking after inaugurating a special photo exhibition on the ‘Amrita Mahotsava’ of independence and the achievements of the Central Government in the last eight years organised by the Department of Communications at The Kamala Nehru National Memorial College for Women in the City. “It is commendable that the Union Ministry of Communications through its awareness campaigns is providing information about Government Schemes to the rural people. Today’s youth should come out of mobile addiction and focus on education,” he said.

He called upon the people to cooperate in the delivery of schemes to the beneficiaries by taking information about various schemes of the Government and communicating it to the common man.

Speaking on the occasion, Nagaraju S. N., Secretary, National Institute of Education, Shivamogga said that there is a need to take centrally sponsored schemes to the people of rural areas and the media units of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting are playing an important role in this regard.
