Shivamogga: An unfortunate incident in Haadonahalli taluk in the district claimed lives of 12 men who drowned in Thungabadhra River while the boat they were moving on capsized. 

More than 20 people had gone to immerse the idol of Ganesha into the river when this happened. Only four of the 20 have swum it safely to the shore.

The villagers have taking an account of the people who had volunteered to go to the river to immerse the idol. A recent update says that most of the victims are students.
