Malnad Eco Club organizes ETERNITY 14

Hassan: The Malnad Eco Club organised Eternity 14 here on March 25, 2014 at Malnad College of Engineering, Hassan.

The inaugural function started at 11:30 am and was graced by the Dr.Harish Bhat, scientist in IISC, Bengaluru in the field of habitat ecology and wild life biology. He had been part of around 25 projects on environmental protection. Uma B, associate professor and head of department of information science, Malnad College of Engineering was also present during the occasion.

The brain storming event CEREDRUM had 30 teams in the preliminary round, out of which the best six teams were selected. The panel discussion preliminary round was a written round, and a scenario was given on a recent environmental issue and participants were asked to find a solution for it.

In an interactive session Dr. Harish Bhat interacted with the club members and gave another spark to their dreams and action.

Treasure hunt was an awesome event of the eternity which had 60 teams each with 4 members, helped all the students get to know the name of trees inside the campus and clues were eco related, so it helped in giving good message to save earth save greenery

ABHIVYAKTHI: The painting competition was organised and the students were asked to put in their ides and expression on the topic ‘Environment v/s Development’ around 15 students participated in the event and excellent outcomes came out of it in the form of sketches and colours.

The tree talk, which was the attraction sub event of Eternity 14, happened to being enthusiastic faces and useful tones to being in the best kind of tree to be grown in the college campus. Talks were given by more than 15 students, who brought in different kind of species of trees and expressed the reason of planting of these trees in the college. The best tree will be planted in order to cope with the loss of trees in the campus.

In the meantime the final phases of panel discussion of eight participants were selected and the alumni of the club organised it. Talks sprang up on “Waste management’’ and participants discussed how to manage and segregate waste.

FOCUS: the photography competition was organised where participants were asked to submit best of their own abstracts and 2 taken on the day of event ;one around the campus ;and one within the campus ; with topic “the nature and a thing of beauty which is a joy forever’’

The final of Ceredrum was conducted under 4 rounds.

Dr. Harish Bhat gave a wide idea and a talk on “The life of the tree’’ which he made us realize that how much important a tree is and also explained the history of western ghats.

The event was a great success and unique witht the ‘go green, save earth’ theme, which was spread everywhere and builds the impression in the heart of several folks with the help of online media partner NEWSKARNATAKA.COM, and even they are following the same theme.
