JP Hegde has failed to respond to problems of people: Shobha

Karkala: BJP candidate from Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency and former minister Shobha Karandlaje has exuded confidence that the BJP would win 272 seats on its own in the LS elections, while other allies would joins with it in forming the government.

Speaking to reporters at the BJP office here, she also predicted a win for the party in over 20 seats in Karnataka. Further, she said the party would be in trouble if it secures anything less than 272 and added the party has chalked out a strategy to even tackle such a situation.

Strongly deploring the areca ban proposal on the grounds that it had toxic content, she questioned the motive behind the government move. The government on the other hand has paid least attention towards the problems of the growers due to Haladi disease, Shobha said.

Continuing, she said the union government has failed in providing assistance to deep sea fishermen and alleged that the UPA government has withdrawn the Rs 1.50 per litre subsidy, which was offered during the NDA regime.

She also lashed out at sitting MP Jaayaprakash Hegde and said he has failed to respond to the problems of the constituency.

Shobha said a permanent solution would be found to various problems once Narendra Modi becomes the prime minister.
