Chikkamagaluru : Mudigere police finally managed to crack the tough murder case where a woman by the name Kantha was murdered and thrown into a ravine by two accused in Charmadi ghat area on August 20.

Kantha , aged 33, a resident of Channrayapatna in Hassan district was killed by the accused Siraj Pasha by being strangled by her neck and his friend Mohammad Mohsin.

Kantha was employed in an apparel store owned by Siraj Pasha some time ago in Channrayapatna town. Soon after the illicit relationship developed between the two, Kantha started blackmailing Siraj for money. On few occasions, Siraj yielded to her plans as she threatened to expose him but gradually it became difficult for him to fulfill her needs. Finally, he hatched a plot with his friend Mohsin to get rid of her.

Going by what they had planned, Siraj invited Kantha to accompany them on a trip to Bengaluru which she gladly accepted. In the middle of the night near Kottigehara, they strangled her using her veil and threw her body into a ravine in Charmadi ghat area.

The police had a lot of problem in cracking the case as the accused were not willing to divulge the details. Finally, a tattoo on her body, similar missing case complaints in the area and the phone call records helped them nab the accused. On August 23, newsKarnataka.com had published Charmadi Ghat turning into ‘crematorium’ for murderers to dispose of dead bodies, pointing at innumerable ‘kantha cases’ which might have taken place in the past in the same area.
