Chikkamagaluru: Superintendent of Police Annamalai has chalked out ways to ensure that rules pertaining to wearing helmet are followed by the vehicle user as well as police personnel without fail.

Though helmets were made mandatory for two-wheeler riders, in Chikkamagaluru, the number of rider not following this rule were on the higher side. The SP has given strict guidelines to penalise two-wheeler riders who do not wear helmets. At the same time there are a few strict orders for the policemen as well.

The ‘Men in Khaki’ have been told in stern words that they cannot be using ‘police’ sticker on their private vehicles and that they should discontinue using the helmets provided to them by the government. Instead the cops have been asked to purchase high quality helmets themselves.

All in all the locals are happy that the top cop has decided to crack the whip on vehicle users who had turned blind eye towards the rules that were implemented years ago and at the same time has also chalked out ways to make Men in Khakhi tow the department’s policy lines.
