Rare shrew mouse species found on Chandradrona Hills

Chikkamagaluru: A shrew mouse with a long-pointed snout(Sondili in Kannada) was found for the first time at the Chandradrona Hills by a study team titled ‘Wild Cat-C’.

Records prove that these species of shrew mouses were found in Eravikulam in Kerala and Bhagamandala in Kodagu in 1850.

The team led by Sagar, Sharath, Surya and Madhu who were on study tour to the hills found these species recently. According to studies, these mouse species are usually found in high-altitude western ghats.
