Belur: The people in the town who braved the unprecedented summer heat received respite when rain drenched the town.

Farmers in the region were happy after rain clouds opened to dampen their farmlands as they dreamt of carrying out agricultural activities. However, respite turned a nightmare when the rains turned into hailstorm battering the town overnight.

People living under tiled and sheeted roofs stayed in the corners of their dwellings pleading for rain god’s mercy as they feared tiles getting shattered by the large hailstones.

When Inditolalu villagers under Areballi Hobli limits stepped out at dawn, they were in for a bigger surprise as some of the hailstones had not dissolved. When they went further they noticed the damage caused by the overnight rains accompanied by hail storm. Seasonal mango crop and other crops were totally destroyed in the area leaving them empty handed once again.
