Chikkamgaluru: In a major breakthrough, the prime accused in Tejas Gowda abduction case, which led to DySP Kallappa Handibhag’s suicide, have been arrested on Thursday, August 18.

The arrested are Naveen Shetty and his son Ashwin Shetty. However, the mastermind behind the abduction case-Praveen Khandya remains to be at large.

As per sources, the two were nabbed from a farmhouse in Hassan and it is said that the two executed the abduction plan on behest of Khandya. Naveen Shetty runs a dog breeding business in Bengaluru.

It may be recalled that during first week of June, DySP Kallappa Handibhag ended life after his named cropped up in Tejas Gowda abduction case. A audio clip made available from some source revealed that Tejas Gowda’s friend makes a call to a particular Chikkamgaluru police’s number to negotiation on ransom after Gowda was abducted and the person who receives the call on police’s number talks of sending the amount to a particular location. It was later confirmed that Tejas Gowda’s friend had called on Kallappa’s phone number. A day after the incident Handibhag ended life.
