Chikkamgaluru: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has charged that JD(S) leader and former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy was involved in circulation of a pen drive containing explicit videos allegedly linked to Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna.
Shivakumar labeled Kumaraswamy as the ‘king of blackmailing’ and accused him of orchestrating the entire saga as its lead, director, and producer.
Recently, Kumaraswamy demanded Shivakumar’s removal from the Cabinet, branding him a ‘key conspirator’ in the distribution of the alleged sex videos involving the 33-year-old JD(S) MP, who also happens to be Kumaraswamy’s nephew. This scandal has ignited a political firestorm, pitting the ruling Congress against the BJP-JD(S) alliance.
While the Congress government has initiated a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter, the BJP and JD(S) coalition partners have called for the case to be transferred to the CBI.
Shivakumar criticized Kumaraswamy’s alleged penchant for political vendettas, labeling him as the ‘king of blackmail’ who intimidates everyone, including officials and politicians. Kumaraswamy, on the other hand, sought to distance himself and his father, H D Deve Gowda, from the scandal, stating that they are separate family.
Refuting allegations of Congress involvement in the pen-drive circulation, Shivakumar accused Kumaraswamy of orchestrating events through the BJP.
