Maddoor: Villagers of Maddoor staged a protest on Saturday May 24  to condemn the  attempts made by a few to grab the land donated to the village by the Rajegowdadoddi Sri Narayana Swamy Temple for public utility purposes.

The 7.16 acres land in question in survey number 211 of the village was being used for  grazing of cattle and even a crematorium is located there since the past several years.

But of late attempts were made to fence the land after unauthorisedly preparing documents in the name of Gowramma. This was strongly opposed by villagers who have now resorted to a protest.

Members of over 20 SHGs also participated in the protest. However, when things seem to be growing tense, the Deputy Tahsildar Girijamma   arrived and accepted memorandum from the protestors and assured to look into the matter. She also directed both the sides to submit land documents as proof.

As a precautionary measure over150 police personnel were rushed to the spot apart from a KSRP battalion.
