Raichur: The police have arrested 16 money lenders across Raichur district for harrassing farmers with high interest on thier loans.

The action comes after increasing farmer suicides over financial loss as well as crop loss across the state.

According to sources from the police department already 17 cases have been booked against illegal moneylenders who were allegedly harrassing farmers who have taken loans from them.

In a press relsease Superintendent of Police Chetan Singh Rathore affirmed that the ongoing action on illegal moneylenders would continue.

He has appealed to the farmers to contact the police control room on Ph: 9480803800 or 08532-235635 in case of harassment by moneylenders.
