Hubballi: Politics Over POCSO Case, Hindu Organisations Allege Love Jihad

Hubballi: The commercial capital of the state is all likely to witness another major issue immediately after the murder case of college girl Neha Hiremath. As the Hindu organisations demanding a comprehensive probe into a rape case of minor and alleging that it was the case of Love Jihad.

On Friday, the APMC/Navanagar police arrested an accused named Saddam Hussein Limbuwale, 19, a resident of Ishwar Nagar, on the charges of raping a minor girl.

According to the complaint, Saddam befriended the minor girl while she was studying at a government school. Later, they became close when they entered college to pursue a pre-university course. The accused, despite knowing she was a minor, had physical relationships with her many times and forcibly had intercourse. Later, he started threatening that he would kill her if she revealed the relationship to anyone, according to the complaint by the mother of the victim.

The incident of a minor becoming pregnant came to the fore when she started complaining of vomiting and stomach pain. When the vomiting continued to persist, the parents took her to KIMS Hospital, and the doctors advised her to take some medicine. Despite the treatment, her condition did not improve. The worried parents took her to KIMS Hospital once again, where doctors conducted a urine test, and it was revealed in that test that she was pregnant.

The victim broke down before the parents and revealed everything. As the news spread, members of Hindu organisations gathered in front of the Navanagar Police station where the complaint was lodged, demanding strict action. They alleged that this was the case of Love Jihad and that the accused should be punished severely. They demanded a comprehensive inquiry into this as they felt it was a Love Jihad case and urged the authorities to explore all the angles and reveal who was all behind this incident.

Police Open Fire at Saddam

The police team led by Dharwad Town Inspector Sangamesh Didginal opened fire and shot at the right leg of the accused while he was being brought to the state after apprehending. The police said he was tried to assault a police constable and tried to escape from them, but they were forced to shoot at his leg to apprehend.

The accused is being treated at the KIMS Hospital, and an investigation is going on.The issue took a political turn and state BJP chief BY Vijayendra convened an emergency press conference in Hubballi to speak on this issue.
