Advanced cleaning machines inaugurated at Hubballi Railway station

Hubballi: In the coming days rail commuters and public will see cleaner environment in Hubballi Railway station, with the authorities introducing advanced cleaning machines for the work.

Complaints about cleanliness of platforms and railway tracks often heard are likely to dwindle with the introduction of new advanced cleaning system.

MP Pralhad Joshi and MLA Prasad Abbayya inaugurated the new cleaning equipment acquired by the Khagaul Loco Labour Cooperative Society Ltd., which has bagged the cleaning contract for Hubballi station.

While inaugurating the mechanised cleaning equipment and machines, Joshi and Prasad also tested the cleaning mechanism by operating the battery-operated scrubbers.

Speaking on the occasion, MP Joshi informed that often complaints about cleaning of the railway station were raised during the Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) meeting and now with mechanised cleaning, the complaints might get reduced. The Swachh Bharat initiative would be futile unless everyone joined hands with government agencies in keeping their surroundings clean, he added.

Executive Director of the Khagaul Loco Labour Cooperative Society Ltd., Gurdeep Singh Jagdev said that in all 84 cleaning staff would be deployed for the cleaning and six supervisors would monitor them. Apart from the platforms, railway tracks would also be cleaned. Diesel-operated water jets, vacuum cleaners, steam cleaners (two each), and four battery operated scrubbers would be used for mechanised cleaning, he added.
